Discover the Hottest New Plants for 2027

A few weeks back, I traveled out to Columbus, Ohio for my second year attending Cultivate, North America’s premier plant show.
While walking the floor and sitting in on the educational sessions, one massive recurring theme kept coming up over and over again. People everywhere are actively looking for ways to disconnect from the endless digital noise, the doomscrolling, and the artificial AI slop filling our screens.

There is a huge current drive across the country for simply feeling more connected to the real world and finding real joy in life again. Out in the digital world, people joke about needing to “go touch grass,” but that is a lifestyle we Garden Geeks have always practiced and enjoyed.

Whether your version of touching grass is stepping outside to pick fresh herbs from your patio garden, or heading out into the yard with your favorite beverage to spend twenty quiet minutes deadheading your flowers, it is all about creating a personal sanctuary. Here at Lakeview, our absolute favorite part of the job is seeing the genuine joy our customers get when they find that perfect, beautiful new plant to incorporate into their home oasis.

I absorbed so much of that positive energy at the show that I simply couldn’t wait until next year to share it with you. I managed to secure a super-early, limited jump-start stock of four incredible 2027 plant introductions. Because these are new introductions for 2027, we’re getting them in as they become available to us over the next three weekends:

Anyone who knows me knows I am a massive foliage guy, so a vining clematis with rich, chocolate-burgundy foliage that also produces satin-pink flowers is the ultimate jackpot. I have already claimed one for myself to plant right next to my Sweet Summer Love Clematis at home!
• ARRIVING THE FOLLOWING WEEKEND:
  INVINCIBELLE WEE WHITE® 2.0 Smooth Hydrangea: An updated dwarf smooth hydrangea featuring sturdy stems and packed with pure white flowers that bloom continuously from summer to frost .DARKEST NIGHT® Butterflybush: Stunning, deep, moody, near-black purple blooms that pollinators adore.

Because these are exclusive, early-released varieties, our current physical stock in each weekly batch is limited. If you want more time to plan your landscape and do not want to feel rushed, we have some great news.

We will be launching a special pre-purchase program for these new introductions over the winter months, so keep an eye out for that announcement. It is the perfect, low-stress way to claim your favorite varieties early and map out your layout before the spring rush.
