Blooming Through Fall… and Growing Something New at Lakeview!

A couple of weeks ago, we held our Blooming Through Fall Make & Take Workshop, and what a fun afternoon it was!

Those who attended got hands-on experience, along with plenty of personal help, learning how we approach designing our containers here at Lakeview. Michelle and I walked everyone through mixing textures, colors and heights, why placement matters when designing a container and, perhaps most importantly, why not all bows are created equal!

As we finished up, we shared one of our favorite Garden Geek tips for keeping those fall planters looking their best: keep feeding them! Every planter went home with some Osmocote to help keep those blooms going well into fall.

Something Else Was Growing Behind the Scenes

While Jacquie has already held several of her pollinator classes and Plant Bingo events in our store greenhouse, this was the first workshop that I hosted there.

Michelle came back just in time to take a look at the setup Jacquie and I had put together and, well… she had some thoughts. A little rearranging later, and suddenly we had a much more formal, spacious and functional Green Thumb Education Center!

The new layout had me inspired, and the response from those who have seen it has been pretty exciting, too.

But the real reason this space is taking shape is all of you.

For years, our customers have quietly been asking us to offer more classes and workshops. This year, we finally started dipping our toes back into that side of the garden center, and you have definitely shown us that you meant it!

You’ve signed up. You’ve shown up. You’ve planted, learned, asked questions, played Plant Bingo and shared your ideas with us. Your support is giving this generation of Garden Geeks the nudge we needed to revitalize something that we think can become a really special part of Lakeview.

Now We Want to Hear From You!

As we start thinking about future classes, workshops and events, we’d love a little more input from you.

We’ve put together a quick Google Form and would love to hear your thoughts. If you’ve attended one of our workshops or classes, how did we do? Is there anything we could do differently? And whether you’ve attended one yet or not, what classes or workshops would you like to see us offer in the future?

All of us Garden Geeks are excited about what’s already been happening around the nursery, but we’re even more excited about where this could go.

After all, you’ve helped us plant the seed. Now let’s see what we can grow together!
