Few things bring a garden to life quite like pollinators. One minute the garden is quiet, and the next it is buzzing with bees, fluttering with butterflies, and alive with hummingbirds darting from flower to flower. On Sunday, June 7th, we invite you to join the Lakeview Plant Geek Team for a special Hummingbird & Pollinator Make and Take Workshop where we will explore the colorful world of pollinator-friendly summer annuals while creating a beautiful planter to enjoy all season long.
Together, we will learn which flowering annuals attract specific pollinators and why certain plants become absolute magnets for hummingbirds, butterflies, bees, and beneficial insects. Some flowers are built for hummingbirds with long tubular blooms packed with nectar, while others are perfect landing pads for butterflies or pollen-rich favorites for native bees. During the workshop, participants will get to choose from a wide assortment of summer annuals and create either a hanging basket or patio planter designed to support pollinators while adding incredible color to their outdoor spaces.
Beyond building the planter itself, we will also share practical Plant Geek tips on watering, fertilizing, deadheading, and how to keep pollinator planters thriving through the hottest days of summer. Whether you are already passionate about pollinator gardening or simply want a beautiful container buzzing with life and color, this workshop is a fun and approachable way to learn, plant, and celebrate everything that makes summer gardening so rewarding. And honestly, once the hummingbirds discover your planter, do not be surprised if they start acting like they own the place.
